Judy Ann Slack Leamon, age 67, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 at her residence. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Slack and her niece, Crystal McGaha. She is survived by her husband, Billy Smith of Cleveland; son and daughter in law, Gary and Missy Ballew of Missouri; son, Gary Ballew of Cleveland; grandchildren, Peyton Ballew, Austin Ballew, Trevor Ballew and Donte’ Ballew; mother, Mae Verner of Cleveland; brother, John Slack; sister and brother in law, Tammy and James McGaha; one niece, Lasha McGaha.

David A. Magoon, 94, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014. A World War II veteran, he moved to Collegedale in 1965 where he was a member of the Collegedale Seventh- day Adventist Church and served as mayor and commissioner.

Rosalie J. Colfer, 82, of Benton TN, succumbing to a prolonged illness, died peacefully on May 28, 2014 at a hospice facility in Chattanooga TN. She was attended by her dedicated daughter, Sally A. Dostie of Benton. Rosalie was born in Hallowell Maine on July 28, 1931, the daughter of the late Maynard and Esther Clement of Gardiner Maine. She attended Hallowell High School and had lived in Augusta Maine prior to relocating to Benton in 2003. She had been employed by the State of Maine Dept of Transportation for many years until her retirement in 1990. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Colfer of Augusta Maine, her daughter Kathleen (Colfer) Adams of Chesapeake, VA. Mrs Colfer is survived by her daughter, Sally A. Dostie, four grand-daughters, Amy Ike of Sydney, OH, Michelle Fink of Delaware OH, Rebecca Dostie of Columbus OH, Emily Wyland of Commerce City, CO and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will full military honors will be conducted Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:30 PM from Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend David Crump officiating. A white dove release ceremony will follow the services.

Barry “Big Daddy” Ricketts, age 67, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at a local hospital. The son of the late Charles and Aurora Aranjo Ricketts, he was born in Massachusetts, lived in Kennesaw, GA for the last 20 years before spending the last year and a half in Cleveland. Barry was a retired veteran of the United States Army with 20 years of service and served two tours in Vietnam. He loved riding motorcycles, Antique cars, and spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his godparents, Joseph and Bellbina Aranjo; and brothers, William, Robert, and Joseph Ricketts. He is survived by his wife, Lori Britt Ricketts of Cleveland; son , Patrick Ricketts of Kennesaw, GA; stepchildren, Claudia Fields of Griffin ,GA, Andrea Wheeler of McDonough , GA, Adriana, Cody and Madison Kincaid all of Cleveland; granddaughter, Madison Ricketts; step-grandchildren, Janiah Kincaid, Calie Ann Suits, Jon Paul Wheeler, and Zander Kincaid; sisters, Bernadine Ricketts of Medford, MA, Geraldine DeBellis of Rochester, MA, Joanne Rinderer of Taunton, MA, Diane Record of Taunton , MA ; brothers, Charles Ricketts and wife Genny of Lincoln, NE. and Joseph and Barry Aranjo of Taunton , MA . Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends also survive.
